| "Now, brethren, we wish to make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the churches of Macedonia, that in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in the wealth of their liberality. For I testify that according to their ability, and beyond their ability, they gave of their own accord, begging us with much urging for the favor of participation in the support of the saints, and this, not as we had expected, but they first gave themselves to the Lord and to us by the will of God." (2 Cor 8:1-5) | | | | What an amazing example of scrificial giving! When we think of mission work, we think about bringing the good news of Jesus Christ to "all nations". This message of love and sacrifice is often best displayed by rolling up your sleeves and working side-by-side with other Christians to accomplish some work. When we can do this for brothers far less fortunate than we are, it is amazing how God blesses the work. John Wooding, our deacon of Missions, has planned numerous mission trips to Mexico. Some of the early trips were to build homes for needy families. On more recent trips, we have helped sister congregations in Mexico to construct a meeting place for the local church. Congregations throughout the Northeast participate in these trips which further strengthens our bond in Christ. |

| During our trip to Monterrey, Mexico in April of 2009, we worked with brothers and sisters in Christ on a magnificent project. It's a large worship facility adjacent to an enormous new housing development. This was the first time in all of our trips that we worked on the same job site for the entire week. It is our prayer that this small congregation will experience explosive growth with the amazing opportunity they have to reach out to the new community which is literally right in their back yard. You can see the area being prepared for the new development in the background behind the group photo of us on the roof. | | | | | |
